Teco
Name is in honor of Townsend Engineering Company (TECo), a Des Moines-based firm previously owned by Great Ape Trust Founder Ted Townsend. Over the years, TECo employees donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to The Trust.

Favorite Activities: As a baby, Teco enjoys his bonobo and human caregivers.
What makes Teco unique?
Teco, the son of Kanzi and Elikya, is a third-generation bonobo to be reared in Great Ape Trustââ¬â¢s hallmark Pan/Homo (Pan paniscus/Homo sapiens) environment and is a portent for the future of ape language research, a 40-year body of work by Dr. Sue Savage-Rumbaugh; her mentor Dr. Duane Rumbaugh and Great Ape Trust Scientific Director, William M. Fields.
